Charge: Possession of Controlled Substance
In July 2026, Spencer M. Bondy earned the dismissal of a serious drug possession charge pending against a client in Jackson County, Michigan. After an extensive review of body-worn camera footage, police reports, and controlling Fourth Amendment case law, Spencer filed a detailed motion to suppress and dismiss on behalf of client. This motion challenged the extended seizure of our client during a routine traffic stop that was originally initiated for speeding, but quickly turned into a drug investigation. Charge: Operating While Intoxicated
In February 2026, Bondy Law, PLLC was retained to represent a client accused of OWI / DUI in Brighton, Michigan. Our team immediately got to work on this case, including assisting the client in modifying restrictive bond conditions while thoroughly reviewing all evidence and researching complicated legal issues. After Spencer prepared and filed a comprehensive motion to suppress evidence obtained after our client's arrest and to dismiss the case, the prosecution elected to dismiss the OWI charge by nolle prosequi rather than proceed to an evidentiary hearing. The motion challenged the legality of the investigation and arrest, arguing that police lacked probable cause to require a preliminary breath test, failed to obtain valid and voluntary consent for the test, and violated mandatory procedures governing the administration of the breath test, rendering the results unreliable. Because the prosecution's case depended heavily on evidence obtained after these alleged constitutional and procedural violations, the State dismissed the charge, resulting in a complete dismissal of the OWI case against our client.

Office of Hearings & Administrative Oversight - Driver's License Restored

In June 2025, Spencer M. Bondy successfully restored the driving privileges for a client accused of violating their breath alcohol ignition interlock device. Due to the immediate revocation of our client's license, Spencer acted quickly in filing a Motion to Stay Revocation in the Oakland County Circuit Court and requested a hearing to contest this alleged violation with the OHAO/SOS. This Motion was granted by the Court over the Attorney General's opposition, giving our client the right to continue driving on a restricted license while their OHAO/SOS hearing was pending. Due to Spencer's significant preparation, the violation was dismissed after a short hearing with the OHAO/SOS.

This case had significant potential consequences for our client, who was facing a multi-state divorce and custody battle. Charge: Operating While Intoxicated & Implied Consent Violation
Our client was arrested for OWI after an accident in Iosco County. Although our client was cooperative with law enforcement, he refused to take a chemical test following his arrest and received a 1-year Implied Consent license suspension. After negotiating with the prosecution, Spencer M. Bondy secured a reduction to Operating While Visibly Impaired and a withdrawal of our client's Implied Consent license violation. At sentencing, our client was ordered to pay fines and costs, avoiding jail time and probation entirely.

An extensive preliminary examination was held in the 72nd District Court, during which multiple witnesses testified for the prosecutor. In a rare circumstance, Spencer M. Bondy presented witness testimony from his client's spouse that undermined the charge and demonstrated that the complainant was untruthful with law enforcement. Although the case was bound over to the St. Clair County Circuit Court, the preliminary examination hearing was so compelling that the prosecutor agreed to dismiss all charges before the first hearing in the Circuit Court.
6th Circuit Court, Pontiac, MI (Oakland County) - Driver's License Restoration Appeal
Action: Circuit Court Appeal for OHAO Driver's License Restoration Denial
In January 2026, Spencer M. Bondy successfully obtained an order in the Oakland County Circuit Court overturning the OHAO Hearing Officer's November 2025 order denying the restoration of our client's driver's license. In November 2025, Spencer represented our client before the Office of Hearing and Administrative Oversight seeking the restoration of our client's driver's license; however, despite exceptionally strong testimony and evidence, our client was denied a license. We believed in our client and his case. After receiving this denial, Spencer immediately filed an appeal in the Oakland County Circuit Court asserting that the hearing officer violated our client's substantial rights. After reviewing the transcript of the hearing, Spencer's meticulously written appellate brief, and hearing oral argument, the Circuit Court Judge agreed and overturned the OHAO Hearing Officer by granting our client a driver's license.

Charge: Child Abuse 4th Degree
In January 2026, Spencer M. Bondy obtained a Not Guilty verdict on behalf of our client after months of litigating a serious and emotional Child Abuse 4th Degree case. This was a unique case that involved a video of the incident at issue, a litigious parent of the complainant who initiated civil litigation against our client, and no plea offers from the prosecution prior to trial despite overwhelming mitigating evidence. Spencer spent countless hours meeting with witnesses, reviewing evidence, arguing pretrial motions, and meticulously structing the jury trial to expose flaws in the prosecution's case while also humanizing our client. In trial, Spencer used the prosecution's video to his client's advantage by slowing it down and pausing at key moments while questioning witnesses. Spencer also presented additional video evidence showing the demeanor and actions of key witnesses immediately before the alleged incident. This meticulous method of witness examination exposed significant contradictions in the prosecution's case and gave the jury a clear understanding of what really happened. After multiple days in trial, the jury agreed with Spencer and returned a Not Guilty verdict for our client!
